The Opaskwayak Cree Nation Community Centre


The new development of the community hall is located on the reserve land of Opaskwayak Cree Nation at The Pas, Manitoba, the single storey building has a footprint of 16,400 square feet, the floor plan includes new community hall with the designed for 600 people occupancy load, a full scale commercial kitchen and all other support areas. The mechanical design includes:

  • A make-up air and grease exhaust system that provides ventilation for the kitchen.
  • Two electrical air handling units serving the entire hall and support areas.
  • Demand ventilation control. CO2 sensors are installed in the hall to modulate the outdoor air intake flow to match the occupancy load of the space.
  • ERV units for heat recovery in order to maximize energy efficiency.
  • Decent washroom layout and commercial grade plumbing fixtures to suit for universal access.
  • Kitchen fat/oil/ grease interception system
